Dr. Maya V. Martin
Hi, and welcome to our website! A little about me…
I am a Tar Heel!!!! I attended the University Of North Carolina for both my undergraduate (BS in Biology ’96) and dental school training (DDS ’02). I played basketball for UNC from ’92 to ’96 and was on the 1994 National Championship Team. GO HEELS!!!
I am originally from Yugoslavia. I was born and raised in the city of Kragujevac, Serbia. I came to the United States as part of a student exchange program in 1991 and decided to stay at the UNC for my undergraduate training on a basketball scholarship.
I love the practice of dentistry. I find myself to be an extremely detail-oriented person, and the intricate, precise nature of this profession seems to suit me well. I actually LOVE fixing teeth!
I am happily married to Chris Martin. Chris is a dentist in West Raleigh and is also a Tar Heel. We have two daughters, Ava and Ella, and a son, Noah… all Tar Heels in training!!!
I look forward to meeting you. Thank you for visiting us online!
Dr. Martin has received the Fellowship in Academy of General Dentistry
Dr. Octavio Rodriguez
Hi, I’m Dr. Rodriguez. My family moved to the U.S. when I was 8 years old and I grew up in the mountains of western North Carolina with my 2 siblings. I earned my undergraduate degree in biology with minors in genetics and Spanish literature from North Carolina State University. While attending NCSU I fell in love with dentistry while participating in various pre-dental and medical programs at UNC Chapel Hill and West Virginia School of Dentistry. Upon graduating, I worked in a dental office in Cary NC for one year in order to gain more experience in the dental field and that same year I was accepted to UNC School of Dentistry where I obtained my Doctorate of Dental Surgery degree. During my years in dental school, I had the honor to treat veterans at the Asheville VA Hospital, children of the Cherokee reservation in the mountains of NC, cancer patients in Mexico City and children in Nuestros Pequeños Hermanos Orphanage in Morelos, Mexico. I also had the opportunity to treat inmates in need of dental care at the NC central prison in Raleigh. Since dental school, I have been part of the American Dental Association, the North Carolina Dental Society, and the Hispanic Dental Association. When I am not here at Village Dental North Raleigh I enjoy volunteering with Missions of Mercy clinics in North Carolina, St. Thomas Moore free dental clinics in Chapel Hill, SCHAC dental clinics and various non-profit clinics providing dental care to the underserved in our state. I truly enjoy my profession because it combines my two greatest passions, working with my hands and medicine. From an early age I was very curious about science and how everything around me worked. Having a machinist as a father, I was always drawn to hands-on projects, which I would undertake with my father and brother (who later became an engineer). I could not be happier with dentistry. I feel that it is a complete honor to be able to use my skills and knowledge to help others while doing what I love to do. Being able to work closely with patients and at a deep and personal level is in itself one of the greatest blessings in this profession due to the special opportunity that you have as a health care provider to develop trust and relationships with your patients. I look forward to meeting you soon!
Dr. Samantha Britt
Hi, I’m Dr. Samantha Britt! I was born in Texas and lived in a few different states growing up, but spent the majority of my childhood living in Trumbull, Connecticut. In high school, I learned of my passion for dentistry while working as an assistant at my neighbor’s dental practice. After graduating high school, I went to college at the University of Connecticut. I graduated with honors with a degree in Molecular and Cell Biology and a minor in Spanish. I loved every minute I spent at UConn, but knew I needed to live somewhere warmer, so I moved to North Carolina in 2010 for dental school. I graduated from the UNC School of Dentistry in 2014 and advanced my training by completing a General Practice Residency in 2015 at the Mountain Area Health Education Center in Asheville, NC.
Since I have been practicing dentistry, I have become a member of the American Dental Association, North Carolina Dental Society, American Association of Women Dentists, and the Academy of General Dentistry. I truly enjoy being in a profession where I can interact with people every day, create and improve the beauty and health of others, and utilize the ever-changing and evolving technology that defines modern dentistry. There is always something new to learn, which makes dentistry so exciting for me.
I met my husband, Phillip, in 2010, and we got married in 2015. We are parents to 2 small dogs, a rescued miniature dachshund named Slinky, and a chiweenie (chihuahua-dachshund mix) named Moose, who we adopted as a puppy. They are extremely high energy and loving, and definitely keep our lives exciting and unpredictable!
When I am not treating the amazing patients at Village Dental or home playing with my dogs, I love to read, watch movies, and cook. For exercise, I love cycling, practicing yoga, and hiking. My husband and I really enjoy traveling as well. Our favorite places to go locally are to the beach and especially to Asheville, which is our favorite place to visit!
I am thrilled to have the opportunity to be your dentist here at Village Dental, and I look forward to meeting you soon!
Hello, I’m Laura. After working in the day spa industry for 10-years I decided that I wanted to be more hands on yet still help people feel better. I was born in Liverpool, England and moved to the United States when I was 7. I grew up in Wake Forest, NC and attended NC State University. I married my best friend from high school and I have 3 daughters Haley, Regan, and Gracie. In my free time I love trips to the beach, skiing and playing in my flower garden. I look forward to seeing your smile soon!

Hello!! My name is Joi. I was born and raised in Rochester Hills, Michigan. I graduated from Michigan State University in 2006, with a degree in Merchandising Management. After working in the retail industry for eight years I decided to make a career change and I now enjoy working at Village Dental at North Raleigh!!
I moved to North Carolina eight years ago to escape the long cold Michigan winters. Outside of work, I enjoy spending my time with my boyfriend Jon, and my wild mini schnauzer Tedy. We spend our days eating good food, taking long walks and watching Detroit Tigers baseball! Thank-you for visiting our website and I look forward to meeting you soon!!
Hi, my name is Emilee. I grew up in Southwestern Michigan. The lakes are beautiful, but the winters are long so along with my husband and two children, we made our way to Raleigh. I have a background in healthcare and love the Village Dental team because we work hard to help people achieve their best smile. In my free time I enjoy crochet, eating great meals with family and friends and reading. I look forward to meeting you.
Hi, my name is Ashton, and I have the pleasure of being one of your treatment coordinators here at Village Dental. My interest in dentistry started long before I graduated from high-school; it’s a story I’ll happily share with you when we meet! My journey through the dental field began when I graduated from Central Piedmont Community College for Dental Assisting, and I have clinical experience working in pediatric, oral surgery and general dentistry. Fueled by my passion for helping others achieve their ultimate smile, I worked for five years managing a small division of a dental laboratory, where we fabricated everything from crowns to implants to dentures. I was born and raised in Charlotte, and I didn’t think I would ever leave. But, through my volunteer work with the North Carolina Missions of Mercy clinics, I was offered an opportunity to stretch my adventure legs and moved to North Raleigh in January 2015. While I miss Charlotte and my family enormously, I am in love with this area! I live with my crazy awesome best friend, who also happens to be my boyfriend. We are currently raising Chappie, our cobalt blue Beta who we have very high hopes for. At any given time, you can find me in the kitchen; creating a new recipe and cooking up a storm…We are talking full blown apron status. We are constantly in search of a new craft beer to enjoy, and are very keen on trying new restaurants. I am a nerd to the core, and will talk anything Star Wars, super heroes, and Lord of the Rings related. I love art, film, music, beer and food, but none are as important as my Carolina Panthers! I simply cannot wait to meet you, and look forward to helping you find your perfect smile soon!
Hello, I’m Lindsay and I am originally from Vermont. I lived in Vermont my entire life until I moved to Maine for my college years. I also spent a summer living on the Jersey Shore. My husband Mike and I relocated to North Carolina to get away from the cold and to be close to my sister and brother-in-law. I graduated in 2012 from University of New England in Maine with a degree in dental hygiene. I practiced dental
hygiene and dental assisting for 5 years at a wonderful practice in Vermont. I fell in love with working
closely with my patients and helping them feel at ease in a dental setting. When I am not at work I am spending time with my husband and my two dogs. I have two spoiled rescue dogs, a pug named Rex and a chug (pug-Chihuahua mix) named Willie. We enjoy spending time on the beach and enjoying all the
good southern food Raleigh area has to offer. We also enjoy watching football and hockey! We are loyal Patriots and Bruins fans.

four year university located in NC with a major in Biology and minor in Arabic. My hobbies include:
singing, swimming, volunteering and traveling the world! My interest in dentistry started a few years

My name is Mirko. I am Dr. Maja Martin’s father. I was born in former Yugoslavia. I studied technical science and management and used to work in the technical field in Serbia and then from 1995 in the USA. Maja was a good student and we decided to use the student exchange program established between the USA and Yugoslavia. Maja came to the USA in 1991 to study and finish her last year of high school. However, at that time the geopolitical situation in the world took a dramatic change. To come back, Maja accepted the offer from UNC Chapel Hill to play basketball for four years and study biology. During the next four years she finished biology with Honors and her UNC basketball team became back to back ACC Champions two years in a row. The rest of my family, my wife Snezana and daughter Katarina, came to the USA in 1995 as USA residents. Maja was always a strong personality with her own life vision. She finished UNC Dental School and soon after she started her own dental office. She became an excellent dentist too. We are proud of Maja’s work and accomplishment. I appreciate Maja for allowing me to be part of her team and to see her happiness after hard work at the end of the day. Thank you, Maja.
